Day 1
I travel by train this trip because I want to know how to travel by train in the New Normal style, it can be said that there is almost nothing to worry about. All passengers and officers are taking care of themselves by wearing a hygienic mask and bringing hand sanitiser to almost everyone. The important thing while travelling is the very beautiful view.
The train left Hua Lamphong Railway Station at 07.00 Hrs. and arrived at Phitsanulok Railway Station around 15.30 Hrs. The schedule was a little late. The first destination was Ban Mung Subdistrict, Noen Maprang District. It took about 1 and a half hours to travel from the city. The village is surrounded by a large rocky mountain of 300 million years old, which is part of the Thung Salaeng Luang National Park.
I had a trip with Khun Tun, administrator of a group of lovers of Noen Maprang, who was the tour guide this evening by E-tak in the area of “Landmark Road” of Ban Mung at 16:30 Hrs. If you want to see the village by car, it will take about 1 and a half hours. Anyone who would like to take a car to see the village in the evening, don’t forget to manage the travel schedule because there will be the highlight in the evening of watching a flock of bats that will look for food.
- Tour bus fee: 800 Baht with 10-12 seats per car.
- Ban Mung Nuea, Mu 1, Ban Mung Subdistrict, Noen Maprang District, Phitsanulok

After getting on the E-tak, Khun Tun took us to visit various caves; such as, Luang Pho Bun Cave, the Bat Cave, Duean Cave, and Dao Cave where most of the bats live. The highlight here is Nang Sip Song Cave, which scientists speculated that this cave used to be the sea once more than 300 million years ago. There is also a belief in Thai folklore that it is where the 12 women were trapped by giants and gouged out their eyes.
After that, Khun Tun took us to see the kind-hearted Ma Ba Camp, which is accommodation that provides income to help stray dogs. And go to see the rocky mountain paths around Noen Maprang, which has rocky mountains that are approximately 13.5 kilometres long.
Anyone interested in adventure activities like conquering the limestone peak can make enquiries and make reservations in advance with Khun Tun. It takes about 2-3 hours. The path is plain and grooved rock, but you must walk with caution.
Finish with a return at the landmark to watch the bats. Every evening, more than a million bats will earn a living for about 1 hour. Bats will fly out to search for food around 18.00 Hrs. In the first 15-20 minutes, many bats will be seen flying out. I had to take the camera out to take a lot of photos. . The recommended way to travel to Ban Mung is to rent a car, or if your group is in the waiting line, you can take the Phitsanulok – Noen Maprang bus from the old bus station. The bus costs 70 Baht and takes about 2 hours.
- The bus schedule is as follows:

Day 2
I travelled to Sukhothai. It took about 2 hours. If you do not have a private car, you can take a van or a bus from Phitsanulok to Sukhothai. In the city of Sukhothai, there are minibus services all day.
The next place, I will take you is the Ban Phra Pim Laksannamonsilp that was established in 2007. Ban Phra Pim Laksannamonsilp is a SHA (Amazing Thailand Safety & Health Administration) certified entrepreneur. Therefore, you travelled with safety for sure.

When I walked inside, I found the hunter “Kop” who was the founder and teacher of votive tablet making. I want to say that Phi Kop talked happily. He taught about various knowledge about Buddhist art and history that was enjoyable to listen to that I almost forgot the time to make a votive tablet. Before the workshop starts, do not forget to taste the pandan juice and desserts made by the local people prepared by Phi Kop. They are very tasty.
The snack menu will change continuously for appropriateness. So, it was time to do the workshop. The equipment used to make the votive tablet is clay and mould.
How to make a votive tablet is as follows: . 1. Mould the clay to look like a slender stick like a finger. 2. Press the clay firmly into How to make a votive tablet is as follows:
1. Mould the clay to look like a slender stick like a finger.
2. Press the clay firmly into the mould with the thumb of both hands, and remove the excess clay.
3. Mould another clay ball into small cubes, pressing down between the clay and the mould.
4. Gently pull out and decorate the excess edge to be complete.
5. Write the name on the back of the Buddha amulet. You can ask Phi Kop to write your name in Khmer or Thai script.
6. Leave to dry or wait to put into the kiln.
I took an hour and a half to make a votive tablet. After finishing, I had to dry the votive tablet before waiting for it to be to baked, which would take at least 1 day if you don’t have enough time. You can ask Phi Kop to deliver it to your home with the shipping cost of 150 Baht.
If you don’t want to make a votive tablet or practice other religions, you can sculpt an elephant or a flower as well. There are also other activities for you to try; such as, archery or making an ancient fire.
More importantly, Phi Kop secretly whispered that the subjects learned included making vases, drawing, and other kinds of various knowledge that has not been recorded. You have to ask to be a pupil from someone who knows by lifting oneself … so cool, right?

Si Satchanalai Historical Park takes about 1 hour to get to from the city. There are many historic sites, and the atmosphere is quite shady.
In the past, the city of Si Satchanalai was formerly known as ” Chaliang” centred at Wat Phra Si Rattana Mahathat Chaliang. Later, the city was expanded to the west. The centre was moved to the area of Wat Chang Lom and changed its name to “Si Satchanalai”, the capital city of Sukhothai.

Currently, there is an area organised within the park. It was changed into a low carbon area for tourists to visit by foot, bicycle or electric tram instead of cars. I think that renting bicycles or walking is fun. At the time, I saw many families renting bicycles together.

- Bicycle rental fee is 20 Baht.
- The tram fee is 30 Baht or charter the whole tram for 300 Baht per 15 seats. The trip takes 1 hour.
