Pha Taem National Park in Ubon Ratchathani province is boasting countless species of wild flowers in full bloom to welcome the cold season, especially in its sprawling ground near the Twin Rock Pillars. At the forefront are species with royally appointed Thai names, like ‘Soi Suwanna’ (Utricularia bifida), ‘Dusita’ (Utricularia delphinioides), ‘Sarasjanthorn’ (Burmannia coelestis D. Don), ‘Thipkeson’ (Utricularia minutissima), and ‘Manithewa’ (Eriocaulon smitinandii Moldenke). Also blossoming alongside are ‘Kradum Thong’ (Melampodium divaricatum), ‘Ya Khao Kam’ (Burmannia disticha), ‘Nao Duean Ha’ (Myxopyrum smilacifolium), ‘Chok Bo Wai’ (Drosera burmanni), and ‘Ya Nam Khang’ (Drosera indica). Flower lovers can take full delight in these floral beauties.

Pha Taem National Park also features historic sites and pristine natural sculptural masterpieces. Such attractions include the Soi Sawan and Saeng Chan Waterfalls, as well as Pha Chanadai, Thailand’s first spot to greet each dawn’s rising sun. The most spectacular highlight of this national park is probably a series of prehistoric drawings, a must-see for every visitor.
